On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Techo Peace Museum in Siem Reap, H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, is honored to warmly welcome His Excellency YAMAGUCHI Natsuo, Chief Representative of Komeito and Member of the House of Councilors, paying an official visit to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre to learn more about current mine action and view the progress of construction for the outreach facilities (Museum), supported by the Government of Japan.
Since 1991, H.E YAMAGUCHI Natsuo has visited Cambodia 4 times and also expressed his respect and appreciation for CMAC, which contributing to the sharing of experience and know-how with landmine-affected countries at the request of Japan, such as Colombia, Iraq/KRG, Angola, Lao PDR, Ukraine and some other African countries.
During the meeting, I also informed His Excellency about the achievements over the past 32 years including clearing nearly 2,000 square kilometers and destroying all kinds of more than 3 million landmines/ERWs.
The visit by His Excellency YAMAGUCHI Natsuo will strongly contribute to mine action by the Government and People of Japan for their continued commitment. Both financial and demining equipment contributions have extensively enabled CMAC to have stronger and more effective operations to fight against hidden killers.
