Training facility, which is a grant assistance from the Japanese government was handed over to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre

On October 15, 2025, at the Technical Institute of Mine Action in Kampong Chhnang Province, the handover ceremony of training facility, which is a grant assistance from the Japanese government to the Royal Government of Cambodia to support CMAC, was held. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC; Mr. Takuji Urano, Project Manager of SATO KOGYO Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Yasutaka Shimojima, Resident Construction Supervisor of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. The construction project comprises a total of seven buildings, including: 1. One two-story classroom building with 10 rooms 2. Two dormitory buildings with a total of 30 rooms, capable of accommodating more than 200 trainees 3. One conference hall building with a seating capacity of more than 400 participants 4. One canteen building with a capacity of more than 200 people 5. One sanitation facility building 6. One power supply building.

The main construction of all major structures has been completed, and they are now being handed over to CMAC for operation management. Meanwhile, the installation of furniture, computer systems, and training and instructional equipment is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026. The Government of Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has approved a grant aid to the Royal Government of Cambodia for the construction of these training buildings for CMAC. The construction works are being implemented by a team of engineers from Sato Kogyo Co., Ltd., Japan. As of October 2025, the building construction at the Technical Institute of Mine Action in Kampong Chhnang Province has progressed smoothly and in full accordance with the established plan.

On this meaningful occasion, H.E. Heng Ratana expressed his profound gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Samdech Techo and Samdech Thipadei for their inspirational leadership and tireless efforts in driving forward and supporting the construction of these essential training facilities. He also paid tribute to the government and people of Japan for their generous and long-standing friendship, demonstrated through the provision of this valuable grant aid. This cooperation stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations and greatly contributes to strengthening CMAC’s capacity in providing professional training and sharing expertise in mine action, both within Cambodia and across the international community, especially among mine-affected countries. At the same time, H.E. Heng Ratana also extended his sincere appreciation to the leadership and officials of JICA, as well as to Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd., the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS), and Sato Kogyo Co., Ltd. at all levels, for their active and effective coordination throughout the implementation process. Their dedicated efforts and professionalism have ensured that all construction works are carried out with the highest standards of quality, contributing greatly to the successful completion of this important project.
