Cooperation Agreement and Partnership Between CMAC and JMAS on a Cluster Munition Clearance Project

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the CMAC Headquarters, H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, and Dr. URANO Shigeyuki, President of JMAS in the Kingdom of Cambodia, signed a cooperation partnership agreement between the CMAC and JMAS to implement a cluster munition clearance project for a 12-month duration, from February 5, 2026, to February 4, 2027.

This project will carry out cluster munition clearance operations on a land area of more than 300 hectares located within the geography of Stung Treng province, with a project budget of $184,471 USD, along with additional project funds that JMAS provides for direct community development. The primary goal of this project is to transform high-risk land into safe land for agricultural cultivation and the construction of housing for citizens, as well as to further promote community development. H.E. Heng Ratana confirmed that CMAC and JMAS began their partnership cooperation on mine clearance projects and post-clearance community development in 2002—marking a period of more than 24 years. The cooperation between these two entities has contributed to the Royal Government’s efforts in strengthening safety and building the socio-economy for citizens and local communities in target provinces such as Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Stung Treng.
