Training Course on “the Daily Maintenance and the Basic Operations of the Demining Machines Nikken DMS-V16 and DMS-V24” for the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre
On the morning of Monday, March 09, 2026, at the meeting hall of the Techo Peace Museum in Siem Reap province, His Excellency Leng Chreang, Director of the Central Department and high representative of His Excellency Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, presided over the opening ceremony of the Cambodia-Vietnam training course on “the Daily Maintenance and the Basic Operations of the Demining Machines Nikken DMS-V16 and DMS-V24.” This training course, supported by NIKKEN Company, is organized for technical officers of the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC). The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Watanabe Jinichi, Senior Project Manager of JICS, Mr. Pham Van Tuong, Officer of Technical Division of VNMAC, and representatives from the NIKKEN Company.
This training course is a result of close cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and Japan through the JICS organization, which has worked to coordinate the transfer of technical expertise in clearing explosive remnants of war (ERW) using heavy machinery. The primary objective of this training is to ensure the use of machinery in the field of mine and ERW clearance activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with safety and high efficiency.
Mr. Pham Van Tuong thanked the CMAC for welcoming his team and coordinating with the utmost care and warmth, exceeding his expectations. He added that he and his team will pay much attention and learn from CMAC instructors so as to develop the VNMAC as well as his country in the clearance of UXO. It should also be noted that this training course on the daily maintenance and basic operations of these demining machines will take place for a duration of one week, from March 08 to March 14, 2026, located at the CMAC training site in Popel Lech village, Popel commune, Sout Nikum district, Siem Reap province, with a total of 08 trainees, including 01 female trainee.
