: Meeting with the US delegation on grant funding for the ERW operations

On March 12, 2026, at the CMAC Headquarters in Phnom Penh, H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, met with a U.S. delegation led by Mr. Ethan Rinks, Program Manager for Weapons Removal and Abatement at the U.S. Department of State;

Ms. Jill Larson, Office of Foreign Assistance Oversight, the Department of State; and Ms. Homa Hassan, Program Analyst for Weapons Removal and PM/WRA Examiner, White House Office of Management and Budget, accompanied by Ms. Kelly Saltzman, officials from the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia. This meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and conduct a physical review of the progress achievements and the path ahead, in particular the implementation of the $4 million grant recently provided by the U.S. government to the Royal Government of Cambodia to support CMAC mine clearance and explosive remnants of war (ERW) operations. This project supports key activities, including: 1. ERW clearance operations in eastern provinces, including Tboung Khmum, Kampong Cham, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, and Kratie; 2. Mobile emergency response units and 3. Mine and ERW clearance operations in Oudor Meanchey province.

This U.S. assistance supports nearly 400 CMAC specialized personnel in actively fulfilling their humanitarian missions. Additionally, it is vital to note that the U.S. government, through the U.S. Department of Defense, has also provided support for human resource capacity building and technical equipment to CMAC.
