Working Group Meeting to discuss the first quarter (January-March) of 2026 and outline the strategic plan for the second quarter.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Peace Techo Museum Meeting Hall in Siem Reap Province, H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, chaired a meeting to summarize the operational results for the first quarter (January-March) of 2026 and to outline the strategic plan for the second quarter. To commence the session, His Excellency and all technical officers paid their respects and recalled the noble heroism of the Cambodian Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives or sustained injuries in the cause of defending territorial integrity during the Cambodia-Siam conflict of 2025. Concurrently, His Excellency briefed the assembly on global warfare issues and the ongoing conflict along the border against the invaders.

To address the impacts of this war, the Director General stated that CMAC has prioritized three core pillars: First, enhancing Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) by expanding the dissemination of information, particularly regarding the dangers of cluster munitions, supported by 14,000 volunteers, including 5,000 village-based focal points. Second, conducting demining operations based on technical surveys and marking minefields in 349 affected villages. Third, responding to emergency requests from citizens and local authorities. As a result, 272 villages have been cleared, leaving 75 villages—covering approximately 3,500 square kilometers—still impacted by the invasion, including over 3,000 locations contaminated by cluster bombs across an area of 2,300 square kilometers.

During the first three months of 2026, CMAC achieved remarkable results by clearing more than 4,000 hectares of minefields and contaminated land. Technical teams identified and mapped ordnance locations in 332 out of 348 targeted villages, defining over 5,300 polygons across a total area of more than 3,600 square kilometers. Furthermore, CMAC reached over 200,000 people through its education programs, destroyed 11,838 landmines and UXOs, and responded to 1,977 Emergency Ordnance Disposal (EOD) calls. These achievements have benefited over 356,000 families, allowing them to safely use their land for farming, housing, and the construction of public infrastructure such as pagodas, health centers, and schools. Before concluding, His Excellency extended his best wishes for luck and success to all leadership and staff in their upcoming missions for the New Year.
