On the morning of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Technical Institute of Mine Action (TIMA) in Kampong Chhnang Province, Major General Chhin Bunran, Director of TIMA and distinguished representative of H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, together with Mr. Bishnu Mahat, representative of the Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Cambodia, presided over the opening ceremony of the "First 1st Generation Training Course on Trauma Management and First Aid for Landmine and ERW Victims." The training program is supported by the ICRC in Cambodia and features two expert trainers from Geneva, Switzerland.

The 3-day training course runs from August 11 to 13, 2026, with a total of 28 trainees, including 20 from CMAC, 5 from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), 1 from the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), and 2 from the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC). A total of 142 participants, including officers, staff, and instructors from the institute and Dog Center, alongside key stakeholders, attended the event. Addressing landmines and ERW risks extends beyond clearance operations; it encompasses humanitarian, healthcare, and social dimensions that demand close collaboration.

This training clearly demonstrates a humanitarian commitment to victims and deminers, recognizing that immediate intervention within the first critical minutes is the deciding factor between life and death and effectively minimizes long-term disability. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, focusing on emergency assessment and first aid for severe blast injuries, timely medical response, and addressing challenges in real-world field environments to build confidence and enable rapid decision-making to save lives as effectively as possible. The ICRC provides training materials and support, while CMAC coordinates facilities, accommodation, transportation, and logistics to ensure the complete success of the training program.
