On the afternoon of Monday, September 21, 2026, His Excellency Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director General of CMAC, held a bilateral working meeting with Mr. Enrico Gaveglia, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Cambodia, and his delegation to discuss strengthening and cooperation between UNDP and CMAC on mine action.

During the meeting, H.E. Heng Ratana recalled that the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) was established by the United Nations (UN) in 1992 and transitioned into a national institution in 1993, with the Prime Minister of the Royal Government serving as Chairman of its Governing Council to this day. UNDP has been a vital partner in providing assistance to the Royal Government to support CMAC's mine clearance operations.

On that occasion, the Director General also briefed Mr. Enrico Gaveglia and his colleagues on the impacts of explosive remnants of war from the Thai Invasion on approximately 90,000 Cambodian families (equivalent to over 350,000 individuals). He specifically highlighted the socio-economic impacts and threats to fundamental rights, including housing, security, and agricultural land necessary to sustain daily livelihoods. Furthermore, both parties discussed possibilities for strengthening cooperation in providing training and exchanging CMAC's expertise on the international stage.
